Overland Construction Corporation began in 1987 as Uintah Construction. Uintah Construction later merged with Carpenter-Erichsen Construction and was renamed Overland Construction Corporation.

Most construction projects fall into one of three categories:

  • Competitive Bid,
  • Design-Build,
  • Construction-Managed

Overland focuses primarily on Design-Build and Construction-Managed.

Over the years, Overland has found that the competitive bid market tends to produce projects of lower quality construction. Under the competitive bid scenario a general contractor solicits bids from a list of subcontractors who each submit a bid. From the bids submitted, the general contractor then selects the lowest bid in each category. It then compiles these bids to establish the final bid that is submitted to the owner. The owner then awards a contract to the lowest bidder. We have found that this process inherently creates a situation where the lowest bidder, in order to make a profit on the job, uses every means available to cut the cost of the project. This process forces the architect, the engineers and the owner to police the actions of the general contractor. Any change orders usually result in exorbitant prices.   >more
